Putting the "stock car" back into stock car racing, Ford has decided to go with a 2013 variant of the Ford Fusion for its upcoming NASCAR offering. Released in tandem with the automaker's street-legal 2013 Ford Fusion, the 2013 Fusion NASCAR Sprint Cup car will help increase brand identity both on and off the track.
At its foundation, what is now known as the Sprint Cup Series was created to race the best stock cars around. Since then, the series has seen fewer production-based models and more race cars built specifically for the track. While custom-designed speed demons are thrilling indeed, racing enthusiasts have noted that today's offerings all look and race the same. Enter, the 2013 Fusion which Ford says will "signify a major return to auto manufacturer identity in the sport."1
Within the body of the forthcoming Ford Fusion NASCAR variant will be organs that work akin to the current racing installment. Built with plenty of advanced safety features, the model will run off a V8 engine and rear-wheel drive. Unlike its edgier brother, the street-legal 2013 Fusion will give consumers power from a four-cylinder with EcoBoost.Whether tearing up the tracks or meandering through the neighborhoods, the Ford Fusion is well-suited to handle all that it encounters.
